CEUs: Teacher CEU; Certificate of Competency from the LSCI Institute; Graduate credits available for additional fee and completion of a research paper

Learning objectives:

  • Learn a systematic, six-stage process to move from stress and conflict to learning opportunities.

  • Learn relationship-building, brain-based de-escalation skills.

  • Learn how to utilize trauma-informed intervention strategies for reaching out to young people.

Description:

Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI) is a brain-based, trauma-informed, relationship-building verbal strategy that turns crisis situations into learning opportunities for young people. In this workshop, participants will learn about specific stages and interventions with real tools to effectively intervene with children who have experienced trauma and those experiencing crisis.

Recommended for special education teachers, social workers, and counselors.

About the leader:

Danielle Theis has been working successfully with youth who experience mental health and behavioral challenges since 1990. Through her development of Teach to Heal, she prides herself in assisting schools with a systemic approach toward becoming trauma responsive. Danielle is a licensed psychotherapist, director of special education, and K-12 principal.
