Description:
Conversations about the science of reading currently proliferate the reading landscape. With limited time and unlimited information, educators find themselves trying to sort out the facts from the fluff. Teachers and administrators want to know, "what does this mean for reading instruction in our schools and in our classrooms?" This training will respond to these questions by bringing clarity around what it is, why it is important, and how it impacts our schools and classrooms.
About the leader:
Dr. Mary Jacobson, a district strategy partner and literacy lead at Sourcewell, will facilitate this training. Dr. Jacobson has been an educator for over 32 years. She has been a classroom teacher, a district literacy specialist, and an assistant professor of literacy at Augsburg University and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Recommended follow-up:
Engage with a Sourcewell literacy consultant to support next steps with implementation of instructional practices related to the science of reading.
