Partner programs

Partner programs are strategic collaborations that leverage existing initiatives to enhance services across Region 5. Designed for local governments and public safety entities, these partnerships provide access to training, education, and resources at no cost. By aligning with state and regional organizations, Sourcewell walks alongside communities to strengthen safety, build capacity, and meet regulatory requirements. These efforts foster shared solutions and maximize impact through collective investment.

League of Minnesota Cities

Regional Safety Groups

Sourcewell sponsors all Regional Safety Groups (RSGs) in Minnesota's Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties. By joining an RSG, your city can form powerful partnerships with neighboring communities. Together, you can establish a safety committee to decide topics and create your own customized training calendar. Sourcewell and LMCIT cover 100% of training costs

Peace officer Accredited Training Online (PATROL)

Sourcewell partners with the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust to cover 100% of the cost for law enforcement to access this online learning platform. PATROL courses allow officers to work toward mandates, as well as other continuing education requirements. PATROL also helps officers stay current on Minnesota legal issues and is based on Minnesota case law. Content is developed with input from police liability experts, insurance defense attorneys, and local law enforcement agencies.

Precision Driving Center of Minnesota

Sourcewell covers 100% of the costs for municipal and tribal police departments, sheriff’s offices, municipal, tribal, and regional 501(c)3 nonprofit ambulance services, fire departments, public works, and highway departments. Schedule directly with the Precision Driving Center of Minnesota.

Minnesota Sheriffs' Association

Sourcewell covers registration costs for regional sheriff's offices to access the MSA’s Institute for Credible Leadership (ICLD) training. This online learning system offers a comprehensive introduction to leadership, ethics, character, supervision, communication, and self-development. There are 40 different POST certified courses, for nearly 200 hours of training. To learn more, contact Ann Jarrett at ajarrett@mnsheriffs.org or 651-451-7216, ext. 8.

Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education

Sourcewell partners with the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education (MBFTE) to fund local firefighter training. The partnership pool reimburses local fire departments for classes/instructors on the MBFTE-approved class list. Each entity is entitled to a per-firefighter rate, and can access funds by completing the reimbursement form on their website.
