This training is a personalized, yearlong professional learning experience designed to strengthen the foundational classroom practices of novice special education teachers.

This training is partially funded with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using federal funding, CFDA 84.027A, Special Education – Grants to States.

Prerequisites: Only available to educators from schools in the Region 5 service area.

CEUs: Teacher CEU

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss the application of due process requirements.

  • Learn effective classroom practices.

  • Gain practical strategies that can be immediately implemented in the classroom.

Description:

The Special Education Academy Plus-New Teacher Academy is designed to enhance the fundamental classroom practices of novice special education teachers. The Special Education Academy Plus includes two professional development sessions focused on application of due process and classroom practices. In addition to professional development sessions, support throughout the year includes eight individual in-classroom coaching sessions. The Special Education Academy Plus focuses on the individual participant’s needs.
