The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is transitioning to Ed-Fi for required SIS data submissions. Ed-Fi enables real-time, secure data exchange between systems, representing a significant modernization in how student data is collected, integrated, and used across the state. This shift will directly impact MARSS coordinators' workflows. To ensure your district is well-positioned for success, Sourcewell is hosting a virtual Region 5 Ed-Fi informational session specifically for MARSS coordinators. This session is designed to give coordinators a clear understanding of the support available, and the practical impact Ed-Fi will have on their work.
About the leader:
Sourcewell Senior Solution Consultants Deb Hempel and Nancy Morrison and MDE School Finance/Ed-Fi Specialist Kari P. Johnson will lead this training.
Deb Hempel, Sourcewell Senior Solution Consultant, has 26 Years of experience working with student accounting. She has worked in large Minnesota school districts as Student Services Manager Business Analyst for TIES Student Information System (TSIS), and is a member of MDE Ed-Fi Advisory Varied experience with student information system vendors.
Nancy Morrison, Sourcewell Senior Solution Consultant, has 26 years of experience working with student accounting, has spent 20 years as MARSS Coordinator and Consultant Business Analyst for TIES Student Information System (TSIS), and has served as Education Region 7 MARSS Coordinator. She has varied experience with student information system vendors.
Kari P. Johnson, MDE School Finance/Ed-Fi Specialist, has two passions—training and troubleshooting. She has seven years of experience as a Region MARSS Coordinator for ARCC in Northeastern Minnesota and over 20 years of experience as a software trainer.
