Description:
This workshop is designed to empower school leaders to drive impactful AVID implementation from their unique roles, whether as teachers, site coordinators, principals, or district administrators. Participants will explore strategies to align AVID practices with their school’s college and career readiness goals. Through engaging discussions and activities, attendees will learn how to leverage their leadership to create sustainable systems that support AVID’s mission. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with actionable strategies and a leadership plan tailored to their role, ensuring continuous improvement and meaningful outcomes for their AVID programs.
Important Note: This workshop is designed for school/district teams that include at least one administrative representative, ideally the principal.
About the leader:
Shannon Bailey will lead this training.
Shannon Bailey is an AVID Upper Midwest Area Implementation Strategist who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role supporting AVID schools and districts in the Upper Midwest. Shannon taught in the Hopkins Public School District in Minnesota for twenty years. Before transitioning to work directly with AVID Center ten years ago, she was an AVID Elective teacher and Site Coordinator and led the district’s AVID Secondary and Elementary program implementation as their AVID District Director. Shannon is also an AVID Staff Developer for both the AVID District Director Leadership and the AVID Elective Teacher training series. She loves cooking and traveling and lives in Minneapolis with her husband David, dog Ivan, and cat Blue.
