AVID
Sourcewell is a local partner of the national AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. Working collaboratively with schools in the five-county area, we strive to change lives and enhance student success by closing the opportunity gap and preparing all students for college, career, and life.
As the name states, the AVID approach draws on students’ individual determination to succeed. Despite the societal and socioeconomic challenges many AVID students face, they have outperformed national averages in key college and career success measures.

Challenging expectations for lifelong success
Collaborating with regional school districts and educators, Sourcewell helps to facilitate the AVID program and provides:
Addressing topics such as Culturally Relevant Teaching and Academic Language and Literacy, AVID events guide educators to reevaluate expectations around student potential.
Lesson plans, activities, videos, and more—participating in the AVID program ensures educators have access to the academic and social supports their students need to thrive.
To ensure long-term success, Sourcewell supports participating schools by hosting training events, offering a direct line of support for local educators, and acting as a dedicated district liaison with the national AVID program.
