Prerequisites: Some experience using Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics in your teaching practice.

Learning objectives:

  • Use techniques on creating thinking tasks.

  • Manage flow in your mathematics classroom.

  • Learn how to facilitate consolidations effectively.

Description:

Learn how to efficiently and effectively apply Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (BTC) strategies such as thinking tasks, managing flow, and/or facilitating consolidations in your BTC classroom. This workshop will leverage your knowledge and skills to prepare for your mathematics classrooms this fall and beyond. 

About the leader:

Jessica Strom will lead this training. Strom has been teaching mathematics in northwest Minnesota for 20 years. She originally stumbled upon the Thinking Classroom in a quest to find ways to get her students to think and become problem solvers. Since her discovery, she has been presenting and sharing the Thinking Classroom with teachers throughout Minnesota. Jessica has served on the MCTM board as Region 7 Director and High School Vice President.
