This introductory workshop will offer you ways for your students to be thinkers beyond rote memorization and repetitive calculations. Jessica Strom, mathematics educator in a small rural Minnesota school, will introduce you to 14 teaching practices for enhancing learning in your math classroom. Learn how to apply these practices to engage your students in learning mathematics.
About the leader:
Educator Jessica Strom will lead this training. Strom has been teaching mathematics in northwest Minnesota for 20 years. She originally stumbled upon the Thinking Classroom in a quest to find ways to get her students to think and become problem solvers. Since her discovery, she has been presenting and sharing the Thinking Classroom with teachers throughout Minnesota. Jessica has served on the MCTM board as Region 7 Director and High School Vice President.
