$60 per participant from districts in the five-county service area; Comprehensive Package pricing: $6 per participant

Learning objectives:

  • Understand teachers' critical role in developing student literacy skills through their specific discipline.

  • Redefine and explore multiple text types that will support their students accessing the content within their discipline.

  • Identify and apply strategies for teaching background knowledge and vocabulary.

Description:

The MN READ Act has created urgency around reading instruction with the focus being primarily on K-3 learners. But what about middle and high school students? This workshop will give educators tools to help ALL students, not just those that struggle, to access content in ways that go beyond just reading the textbook.

Sourcewell literacy and AVID consultants Dr. Mary Jacobson, Shannon Rivard, and Nancy Bruns will lead this training.
