Learning objectives:

  • Build awareness and background knowledge of EL programs, resource allocation, and considerations.

  • Understand best practices in supporting multilingual learners.

  • Create an action plan for your EL program.

Description:

This workshop is designed to build awareness, create an action plan, and support implementation of supports for multilingual learners and EL/ELL/ESL students. Explore considerations for programming, resource allocation, program models, and ideas for cross department collaboration and high leverage strategies to support the multilingual learners in your school/district.

About the leader:

Dr. Amy Young will lead this training. Dr. Young is the English Language (EL) Specialist for School Support at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Previously, she was an EL coordinator, elementary principal, and has taught at New York University and the University of Minnesota.
