Learning objectives:

  • Learn introductory circle keeping and circle keeping skill.

  • Expand Indigenous knowledge through a scientific and environmental lens.

  • Lean into restorative justice practices.

Description:

This course focuses on understanding themes of reciprocity and restoration applied to both human relationships and the environment. We will use the text Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults by Robin Wall Kimmerer and adopted by Monique Gray Smith. Learn introductory circle keeping practices, restorative justice methods, and build background through the text about indigenous wisdom, scientific teaching, and knowledge of plants.

About the leader:

Sourcewell education consultants Rachel Logan and Lisa Worden will lead this training. Logan and Worden have over 40 years of combined educational experience. Logan is an equity and inclusion consultant for Sourcewell. Worden is a social and emotional learning and trauma-informed school specialist as well as licensed youth mental health first aid trainer. Both Logan and Worden have been nationally SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) trained as well as trained in restorative practices and circle keeping.
